He replaces Tongai Maramba.<\/p>\n<p> Philip, aged 40, was born in Ghana and is one of Tigo\u2019s longest serving colleagues, holding senior financial and operational roles across Millicom (Tigo\u2019s parent company) for more than 14 years.<\/p>\n<p>Tigo started its operations in Rwanda just seven years ago and during this time Tigo has been at the forefront of the industry and of innovation for customers in the country, and now has over three million users. <\/p>\n<p>Tigo was the first to bring mobile-enabled 4G and 3G into the country, the first to offer customers WIFI on public transport, and a pioneer of Mobile Financial Services (MFS), helping to make it easier for Rwandans to transfer money, pay bills and access government services. <\/p>\n<p>Tigo Cash Rwanda is now one of only 20 services globally with more than one million active users.<\/p>\n<p> Commenting on the appointment of Philip Amoateng to GM, Cynthia Gordon, Chief Executive Officer, Millicom Africa, said: \u201cTigo aims to bring mobile-enabled 4G, Mobile Financial Services, business services and the full Digital Lifestyle to millions of people across the country who increasingly see the internet as one of the most important enablers for their development. Philip Amoateng, who knows Tigo and the African Telecom\u2019s landscape inside out is well placed to take Tigo Rwanda to the next level. We warmly thank Tongai for his commitment and work in leading the transformation of Tigo Rwanda as it accelerates for growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Philip Amoateng, commenting on his promotion to GM of Rwanda, said: \u201cRwanda is very familiar territory for me and I am excited to be taking up this next challenge in my career and coming back to Rwanda with my family in order take up this post.
