{"id":252,"date":"2011-05-26T10:55:54","date_gmt":"2011-05-26T10:55:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/us-basketball-team-signs-lofty-rwandan-recruit\/"},"modified":"2011-05-26T10:50:59","modified_gmt":"2011-05-26T10:50:59","slug":"us-basketball-team-signs-lofty-rwandan-recruit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/us-basketball-team-signs-lofty-rwandan-recruit\/","title":{"rendered":"US basketball team signs lofty Rwandan recruit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p><strong>According to the <span data-scaytid=\"1\" data-scayt_word=\"U.S\">U.S<\/span> media, the Long Beach State men\u2019s basketball program has signed a Rwandan within its ranks as part of its 2011-12 class of recruits.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <span data-scaytid=\"3\" data-scayt_word=\"49ers\">49ers<\/span> announced Wednesday that 6-foot-9, 235-pound <span data-scaytid=\"4\" data-scayt_word=\"Gatete\">Gatete<\/span> <span data-scaytid=\"5\" data-scayt_word=\"Djuma\">Djuma<\/span> of West High in Salt Lake City had signed a national letter of intent.<\/p>\n<p>The India Times reports that <span data-scaytid=\"6\" data-scayt_word=\"Djuma\">Djuma<\/span>, who migrated to the United States from Rwanda without having ever played basketball on an <span data-scaytid=\"9\" data-scayt_word=\"organised\">organised<\/span> level, averaged 11.7 points and 9.8 rebounds per game and was <span data-scaytid=\"10\" data-scayt_word=\"honourable\">honourable<\/span> mention all-state as a senior.<\/p>\n<p>In the announcement, <span data-scaytid=\"11\" data-scayt_word=\"LBSU\">LBSU<\/span> coach Dan <span data-scaytid=\"12\" data-scayt_word=\"Monson\">Monson<\/span> said <span data-scaytid=\"7\" data-scayt_word=\"Djuma\">Djuma<\/span> &#8220;has great basketball instincts and already makes plays you can\u2019t teach.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span data-scaytid=\"8\" data-scayt_word=\"Djuma\">Djuma<\/span> joins 6-7 Kris <span data-scaytid=\"13\" data-scayt_word=\"Gulley\">Gulley<\/span> (Independence, Kansas, Community College) as spring signees.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to the U.S media, the Long Beach State men\u2019s basketball program has signed a Rwandan within its ranks as part of its 2011-12 class of recruits.
