{"id":25192,"date":"2016-05-09T01:27:10","date_gmt":"2016-05-09T01:27:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/ngoma-3600-motorists-and-cyclists-in-anti-crime\/"},"modified":"2016-05-09T01:26:39","modified_gmt":"2016-05-09T01:26:39","slug":"ngoma-3600-motorists-and-cyclists-in-anti-crime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/ngoma-3600-motorists-and-cyclists-in-anti-crime\/","title":{"rendered":"Ngoma: 3600 motorists and cyclists in anti-crime drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Rwanda National Police (RNP) has urged about 3600 commercial motorcyclists and cyclists operating in Ngoma district to be part of crime prevention mechanisms particularly through timely information sharing.}<\/p>\n<p>The call was made by the District Police Commander (DPC) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Janvier Mutaganda during last week\u2019s meeting held at Cyasemakamba ground.<\/p>\n<p>SSP Mutaganda told them that; \u201cYour work is valuable to Rwandans and must be protected against criminality of any kind. Some criminals masquerade as motorists yet they are drug dealers, burglars or suspects in other crimes. You should cooperate with Police by identifying such individuals and report them so that we can together overcome crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of your colleagues involve in unlawful acts, aid illegal and criminal activities by either transporting thieves, drug traffickers; you should report them and help your communities in maintaining peace and safety for both lives and property,\u201d\u200e he added.<\/p>\n<p>The DPC, however, took stock of the fact that it\u2019s now clear that both cyclists and motorists understand the need for everyone to be part of crime prevention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolice -public partnership has continued to register significant achievements as far as peace and security are concerned, you are therefore always required to keep up your partnership with security organs through Community Policing approach in order to further make our communities  free from crime,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>SSP Mutaganda also reminded the two groups of their duty to maintain road safety by respecting traffic rules and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo not consume alcohol or drugs especially while at work otherwise you will put your lives and passengers at risk. Always be honest and patriotic,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>During the same meeting the coordinator of Rwandan Youth Volunteers in Community Policing Organization (RYVCPO) in Ngoma District David Rutagengwa pointed out that to address cases of crimes especially drug trafficking, those in public transport should play a major role.<\/p>\n<p>He urged them to keep up the momentum in crime prevention. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of motorcyclists, Ramadhan Ntakirutimana, asked his colleagues to heed Police advice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to help Police during investigations by providing information on suspicious cases in communities; and also offer no compromise to criminals who employ services of motorcyclists,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>RNP continuously reaches out to commercial motorcyclists and cyclists with messages on community safety and encourages them to embrace working in cooperatives, best way to improve their well-being.<\/p>\n<p>The force also supports their development by providing financial support through their cooperatives in order to help them develop and streamline their activities.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-12193 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/motari-2_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{Rwanda National Police (RNP) has urged about 3600 commercial motorcyclists and cyclists operating in Ngoma district to be part of crime prevention mechanisms particularly through timely information sharing.} The call was made by the District Police Commander (DPC) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Janvier Mutaganda during last week\u2019s meeting held at Cyasemakamba ground.
