{Rwandan community in Mauritius commemorated 1994 genocide against Tutsi on April 15th, 2016.The event was attended by more than 100 people including Rwandans,Mauritians and citizens from other African countries.} <\/p>\n
During the commemoration, Mr- Nikesh Patel presented Rwanda\u2019s historical background and highlighted the key periods of the history of Rwanda from pre-colonial that led to the actual genocide of Tutsi in 1994. He also pictured the Rwanda of today, outlining the impressive economic development of Rwanda since 1994.<\/p>\n
A Video clip: \u201cOur Memory Our Future\u201d was projected for the participants to have an image of what happened in 1994 and the impacts of the genocide.<\/p>\n
The clip video was followed by lighting the candle of hope and one minute silence honoring Tutsi victims who perished during 1994 Genocide.<\/p>\n
Afterwards, a poem \u201cToday I Remember\u201d was presented by Annick Shimwa, an open Letter to the guests of Rwanda read by Inshuti Ishimwe and a video Testimony by a Genocide survivor was displayed.<\/p>\n
At the end of the event, attendees gathered for discussions where Mauritians and other participants were given a time to ask questions about the Genocide of Tutsi or comment on what they learned during the event. Mr. Shyam Seebun, a Mauritian who was in Rwanda after the genocide in 1995 and returned there recently expressed how he was impressed by the amazing fast development of Rwanda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
