{"id":24727,"date":"2016-04-19T10:37:10","date_gmt":"2016-04-19T10:37:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rsb-renovates-genocide-survivors-houses\/"},"modified":"2016-04-21T03:07:57","modified_gmt":"2016-04-21T03:07:57","slug":"rsb-renovates-genocide-survivors-houses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rsb-renovates-genocide-survivors-houses\/","title":{"rendered":"RSB renovates genocide survivors\u2019 houses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Three old houses of survivors from Rukumberi sector were over the weekend renovated with the support of Rwanda Standards Board (RSB).}<\/p>\n<p>The three houses were handed to survivors on Sunday as RSB staff were commemorating the 22nd genocide against the Tutsi. <\/p>\n<p>The director of RSB, Dr Marc Bagabe Cyubahiro who attended the commemoration unveiled that  in addition to renovating the houses, they will continue providing support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe decided to renovate these houses since they were getting old. Our program of supporting survivors will be continued,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The president of IBUKA in Rukumberi, Mazimpaka commended RSB for the support but pointed out there are many genocide survivors still living in dilapidated houses.<br \/>\nMazimpaka explained, Rukumberi sector has 120 families of vulnerable widows and orphans who survived genocide.<\/p>\n<p>50,000 Tutsi victims were killed in Rukumberi during the 1994 genocide and are buried at Rukumberi memorial.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-11795 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/rukumb1-2.jpg\" alt=\"One of houses renovated by RSB \" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{Three old houses of survivors from Rukumberi sector were over the weekend renovated with the support of Rwanda Standards Board (RSB).} The three houses were handed to survivors on Sunday as RSB staff were commemorating the 22nd genocide against the Tutsi.
