{"id":24523,"date":"2016-04-11T02:18:03","date_gmt":"2016-04-11T02:18:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/dubai-to-build-tallest-tower-beating-its-own\/"},"modified":"2016-04-11T02:17:53","modified_gmt":"2016-04-11T02:17:53","slug":"dubai-to-build-tallest-tower-beating-its-own","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/dubai-to-build-tallest-tower-beating-its-own\/","title":{"rendered":"Dubai to build tallest tower, beating its own record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The new tower will be &#8220;a notch&#8221; taller than the world&#8217;s tallest skyscraper, Burj Khalifa, developer says.}<\/p>\n<p>Dubai plans to build a tower that will stand higher than its Burj Khalifa, currently the world&#8217;s tallest skyscraper, property developer Emaar said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The viewing tower will cost around $1bn and will be &#8220;a notch&#8221; taller than Burj Khalifa, Emaar chairman Mohamed Alabbar told reporters as he revealed details of the project.<\/p>\n<p>But he said that the final height will be announced upon completion, adding that his company would like to present the tower as a &#8220;gift to the city before 2020,&#8221; the year Dubai hosts the world Expo trading fair.<\/p>\n<p>Designed by Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava Valls, the tower will have observation decks, in addition to 18 to 20 mixed-use floors that will host restaurants and a boutique hotel, Alabbar said.<\/p>\n<p>Burj Khalifa is 828 metres high and cost $1.5bn to build.
