{"id":24413,"date":"2016-04-07T01:08:38","date_gmt":"2016-04-07T01:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rpc-south-tips-local-leaders-on-crime-prevention\/"},"modified":"2016-04-07T01:08:25","modified_gmt":"2016-04-07T01:08:25","slug":"rpc-south-tips-local-leaders-on-crime-prevention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rpc-south-tips-local-leaders-on-crime-prevention\/","title":{"rendered":"RPC South tips local leaders on crime prevention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The Regional Police Commander (RPC) Southern, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Francis Nkwaya, yesterday told local leaders in Huye District to play a significant part to influence and involve residents in crime prevention activities.}<\/p>\n<p>The meeting brought together over 800 local leaders, who include village leaders, cell and sector executive secretaries, district authorities and advisory councils of sectors and the district.<\/p>\n<p>ACP Nkwaya pointed out that \u201ccommunity policing rests in the hands of local leaders for implementation\u201d adding that its effectiveness requires building strong bond between them and the residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have to work with the people and be where police can\u2019t be physically,\u201d he told the local leaders.<\/p>\n<p>He outlined child labour, drug trafficking and abuse, domestic and gender based violence as some of the issues they should give emphasis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are some children employed in domestic chores, mines and other hard labour activities, which is a criminal act.
