{The District Police Units (DPUs) of Rulindo and Kirehe, on March 19, conducted separate community policing campaigns targeting motorcyclists, to raise awareness against crimes.}<\/p>\n

In Kirehe, the District Police Commander (DPC) Supt. James Rutaremara, while addressing about 200 motorcyclists in Kirehe sector, credited their partnership in crime prevention, but warned them against aiding criminality especially transporting trafficked drugs.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t work under supervision, rather work as supervisors and watch out for anything illegal,\u201d Supt. Rutaremara said.<\/p>\n

He also urged them to respect traffic rules to prevent accidents.<\/p>\n

Jean Damasc\u00e8ne Nsengiyunva, the vice mayor of Kirehe in charge of economic affairs said motorcyclists contribute to the economic development of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut that economic development can only be sustainable if there is security, which we should all as responsible Rwandans, strive for,\u201d said Nsengiyunva.<\/p>\n

In Rulindo, the District Police Commander (DPC) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Felix Bizimana engaged motorcyclists in community policing discussions.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommunity policing is yours to implement as well. When a crime happens, it doesn\u2019t differentiate and fighting them should as well be an effort by everyone including you, motorcyclists,\u201d SSP Bizimana said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t look at money and forget that what you do also reels on security. You want to do your business in a secure environment, so you shouldn\u2019t also bring insecurity to others,\u201d he said in reaction to tendencies of motorcyclists, who transport wrongdoers like thieves and drug traffickers.<\/p>\n
