{"id":23837,"date":"2016-03-11T08:40:48","date_gmt":"2016-03-11T08:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/kicukiro-residents-cry-foul-over-bus-park-closure\/"},"modified":"2016-03-14T09:00:19","modified_gmt":"2016-03-14T09:00:19","slug":"kicukiro-residents-cry-foul-over-bus-park-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/kicukiro-residents-cry-foul-over-bus-park-closure\/","title":{"rendered":"Kicukiro residents cry foul over bus park closure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Kicukiro bus park which was constructed 18 years ago at a cost of Rwf 200 million has been closed and the land where it is seated set to be sold off.}<\/p>\n<p>Kicukiro district officials have decided to offer the tender of Kicukiro bus park to entrepreneurs to be exploited for other businesses respecting the master plan of the district. <\/p>\n<p>The vice mayor in charge of economic affairs in Kicukiro district, Mukunde Angelique told IGIHE that the decision was taken after realizing that Kicukiro bus park was not needed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a decision taken by the advisory council of Kicukiro district after realizing uselessness of the bus park. We have decided to sell it and seek another place to build a taxi park,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Some residents of Kicukiro told IGIHE that the closed bus park was needed even though officials say it was useless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs far as I am concerned, the bus park was useful. It would help passengers to easily identify which bus to board. It also helped visitors to easily connect their travel routes,\u201d said Tuyishime John, a resident of Gahanga sector.<\/p>\n<p>Uwamahoro Hope, a resident of Kicukiro complained that keeping residents away from participating in determining the type of infrastructures they want is counterproductive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow can they realize that the bus stop is useless after more than 10 years of operation? Leaders should consult us in development projects.
