{"id":23787,"date":"2016-03-09T00:00:16","date_gmt":"2016-03-09T00:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/fatal-attacks-hit-jerusalem-before-joe-biden-s\/"},"modified":"2016-03-09T00:00:05","modified_gmt":"2016-03-09T00:00:05","slug":"fatal-attacks-hit-jerusalem-before-joe-biden-s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/fatal-attacks-hit-jerusalem-before-joe-biden-s\/","title":{"rendered":"Fatal attacks hit Jerusalem before Joe Biden&#8217;s visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Palestinians killed by Israeli forces after alleged stabbing and shooting on the eve of US vice president&#8217;s arrival.}<\/p>\n<p>A Palestinian shot and seriously wounded two Israeli police officers in Jerusalem before being killed, Israeli authorities and medics say.<\/p>\n<p>The man opened fire on a group of police officers on Salah El Deen Street, near Herod&#8217;s Gate in occupied East Jerusalem, on Tuesday and wounded one, police said.<\/p>\n<p>He then fled and wounded another police officer before being killed.<\/p>\n<p>Inside Story &#8211; What is legal basis for killing Palestinian attackers?<br \/>\nDvir Adani, a volunteer medic with the United Hatzalah emergency services in Jerusalem, said in a statement &#8220;two wounded individuals, one of whom was unconscious,&#8221; were treated.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, a Palestinian stabbed a rabbi in a store in Petah Tikva near Tel Aviv, Israeli police said<\/p>\n<p>The victim and owner of the shop pounced on the attacker, seized his weapon and killed him, the police said.<\/p>\n<p>Al Jazeera&#8217;s Nadim Baba, reporting from West Jerusalem, said there were stabbing incidents in addition to these attacks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There have been reports of what Israeli media are calling stabbing spree by a Palestinian attacker,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The incidents happened at three different locations in the port city of Jaffa.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The attacks came shortly before US Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Israel for meetings with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.<\/p>\n<p>In total, 183 Palestinians, 28 Israelis, an American, a Sudanese and an Eritrean have died in a wave of attacks since October 1.<\/p>\n<p>Israelis say most of the Palestinians were killed while carrying out alleged knife, gun or car-ramming attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Others were shot dead by Israeli forces during clashes or demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Tuesday, a Palestinian woman attempted to stab Israeli police forces in Jerusalem&#8217;s Old City before being shot dead.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-10838 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/a3aec23df7484cde897add08b7651dc3_18.jpg\" alt=\"Over 180 Palestinians have been killed in a wave of attacks since October 1, 2015\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{Palestinians killed by Israeli forces after alleged stabbing and shooting on the eve of US vice president&#8217;s arrival.} A Palestinian shot and seriously wounded two Israeli police officers in Jerusalem before being killed, Israeli authorities and medics say.
