{"id":23700,"date":"2016-03-05T23:50:40","date_gmt":"2016-03-05T23:50:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rnp-deploys-more-peacekeepers-in-south-sudan\/"},"modified":"2016-03-08T06:11:26","modified_gmt":"2016-03-08T06:11:26","slug":"rnp-deploys-more-peacekeepers-in-south-sudan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rnp-deploys-more-peacekeepers-in-south-sudan\/","title":{"rendered":"RNP deploys more peacekeepers in South Sudan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Twenty-three Rwanda National Police (RNP) will, this Sunday depart for a one year peacekeeping duties under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).}<\/p>\n<p>The officers, who will be serving as Individual Police Officers (IPOs) join other  over 180 Rwandan police officers already deployed in South Sudan.<\/p>\n<p>The UNMISS Police Commissioner; Commissioner of Police (CP) Bruce Munyambo and the Chief of Operations CP Emmanuel Butera are also Rwandans.<\/p>\n<p>Rwanda, which is among the major  contributors of peacekeepers globally, maintains about 1000 officers including five Formed Police Units (FPUs) contingents of 750 officers, in seven missions.<\/p>\n<p>The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Emmanuel K. Gasana, during a pre-deployment briefing on Saturday, urged the officers to serve the people of South Sudan with dignity and discipline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe one year period that you will spend in peacekeeping mission should be a year of serving professionally, selflessness and dedication, while maintaining main objectives of the mission  mandate,\u201d IGP Gasana told the officers<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo achieve your mission mandate, you must  uphold RNP and National values, know and do what\u2019s required&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>The IGP reminded them always be quick to report to their superiors should they encounter any challenging situations<\/p>\n<p>He wished them a safe journey and again appealed to them to work as a team with other peacekeepers.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Police Chief later debriefed other 15 IPOs including nine female officers , who returned home separately after successfully completing their one year in Central African Republic, Haiti and Ivory Coast.<\/p>\n<p>He reminded the returned officers that a lot has been achieved while they were away and urged them to use the gained experience in their new deployments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{Twenty-three Rwanda National Police (RNP) will, this Sunday depart for a one year peacekeeping duties under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).} The officers, who will be serving as Individual Police Officers (IPOs) join other over 180 Rwandan police officers already deployed in South Sudan.
