{"id":23649,"date":"2016-03-04T00:18:11","date_gmt":"2016-03-04T00:18:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/gatsibo-grassroots-leaders-rallied-to-lead-crime\/"},"modified":"2016-03-04T00:17:41","modified_gmt":"2016-03-04T00:17:41","slug":"gatsibo-grassroots-leaders-rallied-to-lead-crime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/gatsibo-grassroots-leaders-rallied-to-lead-crime\/","title":{"rendered":"Gatsibo: Grassroots leaders rallied to lead crime prevention campaigns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The newly elected grassroots  leaders in Gasange Sector of Gatsibo District have been called upon to maintain the momentum in crime prevention.}<\/p>\n<p>While meeting the leaders on March 2, Inspector of Police (IP) Roger Rwakayiro, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) of Gatsibo, urged the newly elected village, cell, youth and women leaders, who attended the meeting to continue engaging residents in areas of their responsibilities to look out and report anything unlawful.<\/p>\n<p>He urged them to be close to the people and understand their security challenges and always be quick to share information with police and other security organs for immediate response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRwanda National Police conducts frequent anti-crime campaigns and local leaders have been good facilitators of these campaigns; that is why you are reminded to keep up the momentum,\u201d said IP Rwakayiro.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile in line of your duties, you must as avoid anyone who would want to bribe you to acquire an illegal service, instead report such people because corruption is a taboo in Rwanda and your are representatives in fighting it in your areas,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, police also introduced  anti-malaria campaign to local leaders of Gasange sector with a demonstration of how to use a mosquito net and urged them to also go and teach their residents how to use medicated mosquito nets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBesides using mosquito nets, you should as well inform residents to always ensure there are no stagnant water pools in their neighborhoods and also cut bushes around their homes,\u201d IP Rwakayiro said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn unhealthy population is an insecure one that\u2019s why, in our quest for safety we partner with other stakeholders to address such issues.
