{"id":23637,"date":"2016-03-02T06:09:44","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T06:09:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/two-palestinians-killed-in-alleged-settlement\/"},"modified":"2016-03-02T06:09:14","modified_gmt":"2016-03-02T06:09:14","slug":"two-palestinians-killed-in-alleged-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/two-palestinians-killed-in-alleged-settlement\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Palestinians killed in alleged settlement attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Israeli army says teenagers were shot after they wounded a Jewish settler in the occupied West Bank.}<\/p>\n<p>Israeli forces have shot and killed two Palestinian teenagers during an alleged stabbing in the occupied West Bank, as tit-for-tat violence and months of escalated tensions continue. <\/p>\n<p>The two were fatally shot while infiltrating Eli, a Jewish-only settlement in the central West Bank, and allegedly wounding a settler in a stabbing incident, the Israeli army said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Two assailants infiltrated the community of Eli, south of Nablus. They attacked a man outside his home,&#8221; the army said in a statement. &#8220;Forces arrived &#8230; [and] shot the attackers resulting in their death.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to a report by the Palestinian Ma&#8217;an News Agency, the boys, both 17, were Labeeb Azzam and Muhammad Zaghlawan from the nearby village of Qaryot. <\/p>\n<p>In recent months, Palestinian protests against Israel&#8217;s occupation have intensified. Rights groups have accused Israeli forces of responding harshly to demonstrations. <\/p>\n<p>Since October 1, Israeli forces or settlers have killed 186 Palestinians, including unarmed demonstrators, bystanders and attackers. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Palestinian attackers have killed at least 28 Israelis, mostly in stabbing attacks. <\/p>\n<p>Wednesday&#8217;s incident came just a day after Israeli troops shot dead 22-year-old Eyad Omar Sajadiya, a Palestinian resident of the West Bank&#8217;s Qalandiya refugee camp, during clashes sparked by an incursion into the camp. <\/p>\n<p>Another ten were injured during the clashes. <\/p>\n<p>Upwards of half-a-million Israelis live in more than 150 Jewish-only settlements across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, according to the Israeli rights group B&#8217;Tselem.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-10727 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/ecf3ef1686334d99a785041e9fd48d74_18.jpg\" alt=\"Residents of Qalandiya refugee camp buried a 22-year-old killed in clashes on Tuesday [Mohamad Torokman\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{Israeli army says teenagers were shot after they wounded a Jewish settler in the occupied West Bank.} Israeli forces have shot and killed two Palestinian teenagers during an alleged stabbing in the occupied West Bank, as tit-for-tat violence and months of escalated tensions continue.
