{Rwanda National Police football club has progressed to the next phase of CAF Champions League thanks to 4-3 goals on aggregate.}<\/p>\n
Police FC grabbed the crucial goal in a 2-1 loss away in South Sudan, which was enough to see them through to the next round based on the fact that they won their first leg 3-1 at home a fortnight ago.<\/p>\n
Isaie Songa converted a penalty in the 42nd minutes after a police player was fouled right inside the goal area, to level 1-1 with the hosts, who had secured their lead early in the game through Sebit Ajals.<\/p>\n
Despite Atlabara scoring their second goal in the dying minutes of the first half, to make it 2-1 before break, Andre Cassa Mbungo’s Police managed to hold on to their aggregate lead until the final whistle.<\/p>\n
Coach Mbungo said that despite progressing to the next round, they faced a challenge of hot weather, which affected his players.<\/p>\n
“You could really see that the players were struggling with the weather but they managed to hung on against all odds,” Mbungo said.<\/p>\n
Police will face Victoria Club MOKANDA of Congo Brazzavile, which eliminated Akwa United of Nigeria 6-5 on penalty shootouts after the two sides settled to a 1-all draw.<\/p>\n
