{Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) has lauded the passing of maternity leave benefits scheme that grants mothers on maternity leave a right to receive their full salary for 12 weeks after giving birth. } <\/p>\n

In an interview with IGIHE, Ms Yvonne Mujawabega, Director of Maternity Leave Benefits Division of the RSSB said the passed law widens services under the management of RSSB.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been happy since insurance is getting expanded. It is six years since we started planning for this insurance. Passing the law is of great value,\u201d she said.
\nMujawabega says that allowing the payments of salaries for the first 12 weeks of maternity leave will enable mothers concentrate on proper upbringing of babies unlike the past where mothers would be pressured to return to work before their kids were strong enough. <\/p>\n

Mujawabega says that the publication of this law in the official gazette will be followed by mobilization of employers to pay the contribution like they used to do in payments of pension fees and medical insurance contributions.<\/p>\n

A premium of 0.3 of the salary will be paid by every employee and 0.3% by the employer to guarantee maternity leave insurance.<\/p>\n
