{Primary and secondary school students have got a short holiday so they can prepare for local government elections while employers are requested to facilitate employees to participate in the exercise to be held on Monday 8th February, 2016.}<\/p>\n

The State Minister in charge of Primary and Secondary Education, Rwamukwaya Olivier, said that teachers will be facilitated to participate in elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order to facilitate educators and students to participate in elections, there are no school activities on Monday 08\/02\/2016,\u201d he tweeted.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Public Service and Labour, Judith Uwizeye has, through a tweet, requested employers to allow workers to participate in elections. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Public Service and Labour requests all employers to facilitate employees attend elections on Monday 8th, 2016 in their midugudu,\u201d she tweeted. She added that employees will continue their activities as usual.<\/p>\n

After releasing the list of 2068 candidates eligible for elections, the National Electoral Commission says that 6 469,037 Rwandans will participate in elections.<\/p>\n

Charles Munyaneza, the executive secretary of NEC requested Rwandans to vote those who have the capacities to diligently serve them. <\/p>\n

On Monday, 8th February 2016, there will be elections of village committees and representative of villages in cell advisory committees, 30% of women who must represent cell advisory committee, women council on village and cell levels, youth council on cell levels and committee of disabled persons on cell level.<\/p>\n

NEC has emphasized that voters will stand behind candidates of their choice and campaigns will be held on elections\u2019 day.<\/p>\n

Over 600 election observers have so far been registered over and above the 550 that participated during the recently held referendum.<\/p>\n
