{President Paul Kagame has laid a wreath at the Heroes’ Square in Remera during the 22nd celebration of Heroes\u2019 Day, an event which takes place every year on 1st February.}<\/p>\n

The ceremony has been held at Heroes’ Square in Remera, Kigali, where heroes in the category of Imanzi and Imena heroes are buried including; Maj Gen. Fred Gisa Rwigema and Unknown Soldier falling in the category of Imanzi and others in Imena category including king Mutara III Rudahigwa, Rwagasana Michel, Uwiringiyimana Agathe, Niyitegeka Felicite and Nyange students who denounced ethnic divisions and massacred by genocidaires in 1997.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was attended by government leaders and diplomats represented by Ugandan Ambassador in Rwanda, Richard Kabonero, who took a short moment to pay homage to the heroes for their sacrifice to liberate Rwanda.<\/p>\n

The theme of this year is \u201cStrive for Heroism: Build a Better Future.\u201d
\nThe Minister of Sports and Culture, Julienne Uwacu, said that every year\u2019s theme is selected based on what the country wants to concentrate efforts on.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing a hero is struggled for in daily lives. It requires doing a good deed and detesting bad deeds. In the current struggle everyone needs to play his\/her role for development and consolidate attained achievements,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Uwacu said that heroism goes beyond military struggles but extends to good deeds in various levels.<\/p>\n
