{"id":22525,"date":"2016-01-15T00:19:26","date_gmt":"2016-01-15T00:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/4000-adepr-youth-in-nyagatare-conduct-walk\/"},"modified":"2016-01-15T00:19:22","modified_gmt":"2016-01-15T00:19:22","slug":"4000-adepr-youth-in-nyagatare-conduct-walk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/4000-adepr-youth-in-nyagatare-conduct-walk\/","title":{"rendered":"4000 ADEPR youth in Nyagatare conduct \u2018Walk against Drugs\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{About 4, 000 youth members of ADEPR Pentecostal church in Nyagatare District, on January 13 conducted a campaign against abuse of drugs in an event that also attracted hundreds of area residents, local leaders and security organs.}<\/p>\n<p> The mass awareness exercise started with a \u2018Walk against Drugs\u2019 from Nyagatare ADEPR parish through Nyagatare town and back to the parish as the youth chanted against drug abuse holding placards and banners with message calling for collective responsibility to stamp out the vice that is rated high among the young generation.<\/p>\n<p> Charlotte Musabyimana, Nyagatare District vice mayor in charge of social affairs, while speaking to the youth, commended them for the courage and noble action to fight drug abuse urging residents to \u201clearn a lesson\u201d from them.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThis defines what is required of the youth as future leaders. A healthy and responsible youth predicts a better future and today you set an example that other youth and Rwandans in general should emulate to build a community and generation that is free from drugs,\u201d Musabyimana said.<\/p>\n<p> She also called on residents to ensure body hygiene and sanitation in their homes as they refrain from domestic conflicts and report gender based violence in their communities.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cGender based violence is a human rights violation that has physical, mental and psychological effects on the victim hence being barrier to civic, social, political and economic participation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p> Musabyimana added that; \u201cRwandans chose to end any form of violence that targets individuals or groups on the basis of their gender, age or background. Therefore, as we seek for collective achievements as a nation, GBV, in all its manifestations, should not be tolerated.
