The Prime Minister, Anastase Murekezi, has requested churches to collaborate with the government to educate Rwandans on how best they can extricate themselves out of poverty and contribute to national development. <\/p>\n

The call was unveiled yesterday in Camp Kigali during the 20th \u2018National Prayer Breakfast\u2019 gathering where about 500 government officials and their spouses attended. The National Prayer Breakfast is organized at the beginning of every year with the aim of expressing gratefulness for last year\u2019s achievements as well as asking God\u2019s blessings for the New Year.<\/p>\n

Murekezi revealed that Rwandans should praise God for the good performance reflected in international reports in which Rwanda was positioned at best places whether in facilitating business, fast economic growth and security, among others. <\/p>\n

Based on the theme \u2019Cultivating a culture of excellence and good governance\u2019, the Prime Minister said that the prayer breakfast highlights good governance Rwanda anticipates and called on church leaders to collaborate with the state in getting Rwandans acquainted with the culture of excellence throughout their activities especially in good governance.<\/p>\n

He said this is a one sure way of moving fast towards poverty eradication, development and boosting confidence among people.<\/p>\n

Murekezi said that the religion of Rwandans should enable them understand better their duties for the promotion of the nation\u2019s welfare and strengthen them to support each other taking care of poor people, orphans, widows and other vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo accentuate excellence in good governance Rwanda has committed to achieve, elders are required to pass on national values who will, too, pass them to other generations to come,\u201d said Murekezi.<\/p>\n

This 20th National Prayer Breakfast has gathered Rwandans and foreigners from eight countries including South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Germany, Australia, Cameroon, Nigeria, DRC, Burundi, Singapore and South Korea .<\/p>\n

\u2018National Prayer Breakfast\u2019 was preceded by \u2018Young Leaders Conference\u2019 held on Saturday in Nyamata, Bugesera district. It was presided over by the First Lady, Madam Jeanette Kagame.<\/p>\n
