{"id":22440,"date":"2016-01-11T00:06:00","date_gmt":"2016-01-11T00:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/museveni-blames-voters-for-electing-bad-leaders\/"},"modified":"2016-01-11T00:04:54","modified_gmt":"2016-01-11T00:04:54","slug":"museveni-blames-voters-for-electing-bad-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/museveni-blames-voters-for-electing-bad-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"Museveni blames voters for electing bad leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{President Museveni has blamed voters for electing leaders who don\u2019t want to support development initiatives in his NRM government.}<\/p>\n<p>Mr Museveni said NRM would have delivered more than what has been achieved, but because of \u201cdevelopment saboteurs\u201d like Opposition politicians, many projects have not fully kicked off.<br \/>\nHe made the remarks while addressing different groups of people, including businessmen, transporters and religious denominations at Kololo Airstrip, Kampala yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The President particularly singled out voters in Kampala. He said the Opposition leaders in Kampala have been a \u201cbig problem\u201d in sabotaging the NRM government development projects.<\/p>\n<p>Saboteurs<br \/>\nHe said since 20 years ago, Kampala voters have elected people like Mr Ssebaana Kizito, Nasser Ssebagala, Mr Erias Lukwago and Mr Ken Lukyamuzi, \u201cwho don\u2019t want to work with Museveni.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNone of these people have ever brought any productive proposal to me as a show of interest in developing their people,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cThey don\u2019t want even to meet me because they don\u2019t belong to NRM. But I am president of Uganda,\u201d Mr Museveni observed.<\/p>\n<p>He said it is why his government decided to remove power from people like Mr Lukwago and brought \u201cgood leaders\u201d like Ms Jennifer Musisi.<br \/>\nHe, however, cautioned her against not consulting with stakeholders in Kampala.<\/p>\n<p>Self interest<br \/>\nIn the 30 years in power, the President said, because of lack of local leaders that support NRM programmes, \u201cthe central government has decided to deal directly with people\u2019s problem without any middle local leaders because most of them seek self-interests.\u201d<br \/>\nFor instance, he said, when he passed by Najera, an outskirt town in Kampala, a group of youth told him they didn\u2019t have jobs and yet their leaders were quiet about their plight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut when they proposed that we buy for them a machine for remodeling metals, they are now making money and have jobs,\u201d said the NRM presidential candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Museveni observed that a number of funds have been put in place to promote innovations and micro businesses around the country and Ugandans should embrace them to improve household income.<\/p>\n<p>Source:Daily Monitor:[Museveni blames voters for electing bad leaders->http:\/\/www.monitor.co.ug\/SpecialReports\/Elections\/Museveni-blames-voters-for-electing-bad-leaders\/-\/859108\/3028526\/-\/n1ya1az\/-\/index.html]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{President Museveni has blamed voters for electing leaders who don\u2019t want to support development initiatives in his NRM government.} Mr Museveni said NRM would have delivered more than what has been achieved, but because of \u201cdevelopment saboteurs\u201d like Opposition politicians, many projects have not fully kicked off.
