{"id":22372,"date":"2016-01-07T08:44:01","date_gmt":"2016-01-07T08:44:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/women-council-commits-to-ending-domestic-violence\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T08:43:48","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T08:43:48","slug":"women-council-commits-to-ending-domestic-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/women-council-commits-to-ending-domestic-violence\/","title":{"rendered":"Women Council commits to ending domestic violence in Eastern Province"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Members of the National Women Council (NWC) have pledged to embark on mobilization of all categories of people to decimate domestic conflicts and violence visited on women and encourage women to work in cooperatives for their collective progress.<br \/>\n}<br \/>\nThe NWC members made the pledge yesterday during their general assembly in Eastern province. <\/p>\n<p>Members of NWC considered that participation in small informal but paying jobs can empower women to gain economic independence and earn respect from their spouses thus reducing on domestic violence. <\/p>\n<p>Uwingabiye Alice, the president of National Women Council in Eastern Province, unveiled a plan to mobilize women into cooperatives to create their own jobs for their progress. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will keep mobilizing women to work together in cooperatives for development purposes. If the plan is adopted, you will no longer hear cases where women are beaten or violated since a woman\u2019s participation in the progress of the family will be apparent,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Uwingabiye further commended the achievements attained in the past five years including supporting vulnerable individuals, encouraging women to join cooperatives, alleviating Nyakatsi, accessing medical insurance, bank loans and family planning.<br \/>\nThe governor of Eastern Province, Odette Uwamaliya, has requested members of NWC  to keep the pace of transforming livelihoods starting with rural women that should access services like every Rwandan elsewhere. <\/p>\n<p>She also advised them to address issues of hygiene and malnutrition.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-10219 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/guverineri_odette_uwamaliya_yasabye_abagore_gukomeza_inzira_batangiye_yo_guhindura_imibereho_y_umugore.jpg\" alt=\"The governor of Eastern Province, Odette Uwamaliya, has requested members of NWC  to keep the pace of transforming livelihoods \" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{Members of the National Women Council (NWC) have pledged to embark on mobilization of all categories of people to decimate domestic conflicts and violence visited on women and encourage women to work in cooperatives for their collective progress. } The NWC members made the pledge yesterday during their general assembly in Eastern province.
