{Cape Town – A 31-year-old man drowned in Rooi Els in the Western Cape on New Year’s Day, the National Sea Rescue Institute said.}<\/p>\n
The NSRI was alerted to the incident at 18:43 on Friday, said NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon.<\/p>\n
The police and provincial government emergency services also responded to the scene.<\/p>\n
“It was then confirmed that friends had rescued the man from the water but he had suffered from a fatal drowning accident,” said Lambinon.<\/p>\n
“Paramedics declared the man deceased before [his] body… was taken into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.”<\/p>\n
