{"id":22128,"date":"2015-12-27T01:41:08","date_gmt":"2015-12-27T01:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/over-250-nyagatare-juveniles-acquire-skills-in\/"},"modified":"2015-12-27T01:40:57","modified_gmt":"2015-12-27T01:40:57","slug":"over-250-nyagatare-juveniles-acquire-skills-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/over-250-nyagatare-juveniles-acquire-skills-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 250 Nyagatare juveniles acquire skills in photography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{A total of 259 juvenile delinquents from Nyagatare Children\u2019s Rehabilitation Center of who the majority are victims of drugs abuse, culprits of rape and forging documents, have completed 21 days of training in narrative photography.}<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson of Rwanda Correctional Service, Sengabo Hilarie, said the acquired skills are part of bigger education and rehabilitation programs so that by the time the juveniles are  released back into communities, they will be productive and contribute to national development. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen they are released from rehabilitation centers, we give them basic equipment or tool kits related to what they have learnt as support to enable them create own jobs and become productive. These ones that have trained in photography shall be given cameras upon release,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Other forms of training offered to children in rehabilitation centers include nine-year basic education and skills in various handcrafts and tailoring among others. At the end of their courses they receive a certificate.<\/p>\n<p>The rehabilitation center once served as a prison before prisoners were transferred to other facilities. <\/p>\n<p>Nyagatare Children\u2019s Rehabilitation Center was officially inaugurated on 5th February 2014 under the stewardship of RCS, accommodating juvenile delinquents.  <\/p>\n<p>It has a primary school section, a vocational training school and various playgrounds.
