{Hundreds attending Christmas prayers at Christ the King Church in Kampala Friday were called upon to be mindful and benevolent towards the poor.}<\/p>\n

The Rev. Fr. John Bosco Ssembatya, who led the one o\u2019clock prayers, hinted there was a lot of \u201csuffering and pain\u201d in society, calling the faithfuls to be responsive especially to the needs of the poor.<\/p>\n

The Rev. Fr. said \u201cChristmas comes at a time when there is a lot of terrorism, bloodshed, hatred, when some people have lost their dear ones, when some marriages have failed, when there is a lot of hopelessness. But, we need to allow Jesus to be born in our hearts, in our homes, and community to overcome this pain.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pope Francis in his Christmas tidings Thursday alluded to the \u201cwidening gap\u201d between the poor and the rich, saying there was a lot of indifference in the world.<\/p>\n

The Christmas prayers at Christ the King Church were lit by melodies from the Franciscan Choir. <\/p>\n

Parish Priest Msgr. Gerard Kalumba, in his Christmas Day reflection, said Christmas was a feast of \u201cconversion of restoration of the return\u201d and therefore, a feast of joy, peace and wonderful Love.<\/p>\n

He pointed to the importance of peace, love, and reconciliation, calling Christians to re-examine themselves \u201cin order to live full and purposeful lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said Kampala Capital City Authority had okayed the parish\u2019s request to renovate and expand Christ the King Kampala Church.<\/p>\n
