{Causual workers in Nkumba National Itorero in Burera district of Northern Province are lamenting over failure by the concerned parties to pay their wages for the last five months.}<\/p>\n

Some of the workers who requested anonymity, told IGIHE that the monthly wage of Rwf 15,000 per person per month has over-delayed, making survival of their households a daunting feat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are starving and we are confused about what we can do to get our payment,\u201d said one of the workers.<\/p>\n

\u2018We are not celebrating the end of year festive season since we are not paid, yet our families\u2014wives and children, are looking to us,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n

Francis Kaboneka , the Minister of Local Government during the closing ceremony of the first edition of Journalists\u2019 National Itorero held on Wednesday, advised management of National Itorero Commission not to pay the businessman from where the training is conducted before he settles casual workers\u2019 outstanding wages. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been tipping entrepreneurs on paying employees. We have faced such challenges in various districts but advise entrepreneurs to first pay workers before getting his cash,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Rucagu Boniface, the chairperson of National Itorero Commission promised that the commission is going to follow up the case. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf nothing is done, we will follow up the case since we have kept the commitment statement of paying workers when he gets money,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Casual workers wish to have their wages settled before Christmas and New Year to enable them celebrate with their families.<\/p>\n
