{Nyaruguru district residents have expressed worry over rising incidences of domestic animals and have requested security personnel to strengthen patrols so as to curb the vise, believed to have intensified because of the year- end festivities.}<\/p>\n

Some residents have now resorted to locking their animals in their houses during night and have asked local leaders to enforce animal identification with locally generated certificates attached to each animal. <\/p>\n

\u201cTheft of animals has of recent increased. We ask the government to enforce cattle identification which can help to track animals in cases of theft,\u201d appealed Nzabisigirande, a resident of Busanze sector .<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo days ago, three cows were stolen in one night by lazy people, unwilling to work but instead resort to theft,\u201d added Nsabimana, another resident of Nyagisozi sector.
\nThe mayor of Nyaruguru district, Habitegeko Fran\u00e7ois, says that strengthening patrols and registering visitors to the villages are among measures the district is putting in place.
\n\u201cResidents must be at the fore in countering theft through patrols, reporting theft cases on time to enable police pursue the thieves,,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Apart from increased theft, residents and officials of Nyaruguru district say there is increased drunkenness which is believed to fuel family disputes and insecurity. Illicit brew and marijuana are said to be aggravating the situation. <\/p>\n
