{A delegation of 14 senior military officers from the National Defence College (NDC) of the Republic of Kenya is in Rwanda for a regional study tour from 5th\u201313 December 2015. The aim of the visit is to examine from a strategic perspective, the Management of Security, Foreign and public policy to drawing lessons in the region.}<\/p>\n

On Monday 7th December 2015, the NDC delegation paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff, General Patrick Nyamvumba and received an overview presentation on RDF professionalization and achievements.<\/p>\n

Lt Gen JN Waweru, the NDC Commandant who is leading the delegation told Media that \u201cOur visit here was actually to confirm some of the things we have learned about Rwanda, to get them firsthand rather than reading about them in the books\u201d. He said that they are expecting to learn a lot especially what policies that helped Rwanda to recover from 1994 Genocide against Tutsi \u201cRwanda is recovering from the Genocide that happened in the recent past, we want to know which policies were put in place so that people can live harmoniously\u201d Gen Waweru said adding that their visit was also inspired by the good cooperation between Rwanda and Kenya.<\/p>\n

Rwanda\u2019s Defence and Military Spokesperson, Brig. Gen Joseph Nzabamwita said RDF was pleased to contribute to the academic programs of NDC-Kenya, through hosting the study tour. He said that the professionalization of the RDF and homegrown solutions in defence such as Zigama Credit and Saving Society have been key to the transformation of military personnel in Rwanda. \u201cWe are given morale that what we are doing benefits Rwandans but also being recognized by other Defence Forces in the region\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On Sunday 6th December 2015, the delegation paid respect to the victims of 1994 Genocide against Tutsis at Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre.<\/p>\n

During their study tour, they will visit RDF Colleges and Schools and Defence Agencies such as Zigama CSS, MMI and Horizon Limited. They will also visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of East African Community, the Ministry of agriculture and other institutions and projects such as RDB, Kivu Watt project, Solar Energy Plant in Rwamagana among others. <\/p>\n
