{A delegation of six officials from Burkina Faso who visited Rwanda National Police(RNP) yesterday commended the force\u2019s judicial system and its policing initiatives in ensuring safety and security.}<\/p>\n

The officials were in the country since last Saturday for a five-day visit as part of their learning tour meant to facilitate judicial reforms in Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe came to Rwanda for many reasons; We have a ten-year project (2010 to 2019) in Burkina Faso to see how we can achieve our objectives of having a well structured justice system for all and we understand that in the justice chain, Police is the starting point and that\u2019s why we have visited Rwanda Police to see and learn from your experience,\u201d Said Mouhamadou Niang, the head of the delegation and IT in the EU funded project.<\/p>\n

\u201cChoosing Rwanda as a learning centre was not a misplaced idea\u2026 it was a wise decision. Rwanda is an example of information technology in Africa both in public services including in justice sector, and that\u2019s why we are here to learn how you do it so that these best practices are implemented back in our country,\u201d He added.<\/p>\n

During a meeting at the Rwanda National Police headquarters in Kacyiru, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Theos Badege, Commisioner for Criminal Investigation Department at RNP, briefed the officials on the history of the force and its policing initiatives devised to accomplish its mandate and support the country\u2019s judicial system.
\nHe took them through the priority policing areas that include E-policing, capacity building and welfare and infrastructure development.<\/p>\n

Other priority areas include community policing, crime prevention and reduction strategy, fighting corruption, international cooperation and E-policing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have put some of our service online such as registration of driver\u2019s licence, filing complaint online, identification and tracking traffic defaulters. Rwanda National Police invests a lot in innovations and it\u2019s a continous effort in force development given the government support,\u201d ACP Badege said.<\/p>\n

Rwanda has also developed system called \u2018Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS)\u2019 that facilitates justice entities that include RNP, prosecution, judiciary, Rwanda Correctional Services and Civil Litigation Services, to process case files and other judicial reports, electronically.<\/p>\n
