{THE Tanzania Media Women Association (TAMWA) will join other civil society organizations in advocating for human rights to mark 16 days of anti-gender based violence (GBV).}<\/p>\n

A statement issued by the Executive Director of TAMWA, Ms Edda Sanga, said there will be a demonstration to be led by WilDAF Tanzania from TIP Grounds in Sinza to Ubungo Plaza where there will be exhibitions of photos captured by photojournalists trained by the association on reporting GBV issues.<\/p>\n

Ms Sanga noted as well that during the 16 days, TAMWA will provide counselling services to victims of GBV in Ruangwa and Newala districts where such cases have been reported to be on the increase compared to other areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn marking the 16 days against GBV, over 30 participants will attend a seminar on the extent of the problem and how it can be tackled. \u201cThe participants to attend the training include medical doctors, paralegals, magistrates, state attorneys as well as social workers and police officers on gender desks,\u201d the statement read in part.<\/p>\n

TAMWA through the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has been carrying a number of activities countrywide to tackle GBV cases and their negative impact on social development.<\/p>\n
