{Sudan\u2019s vice-president Hassabo Abdel-Rahman has stressed the need to implement the undertakings which were agreed upon between presidents Omer al-Bashir and Yoweri Museveni recently.}<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of a two-day visit to Khartoum last September, Museveni issued with his Sudanese counterpart a communiqu\u00e9 saying the two countries agreed to enhance security cooperation and to reactivate a joint security committee.<\/p>\n

Bashir and Museveni further directed the intelligence and security services in the two countries to strengthen their cooperation and coordination in order to overcome the differences between the two sides.<\/p>\n

According to the Sudan Tribune, Abdel-Rahman, who met the Ugandan Charg\u00e9 d\u2019affaires in Khartoum Joyce Owneke on Wednesday, underscored the importance of carrying out what has been agreed on between the two presidents.<\/p>\n

The director of the African affairs department at Sudan\u2019s foreign ministry, Mohamed Issa Ismail told reporters that the meeting comes within the framework of contacts between the two countries.<\/p>\n

According to Ismail, the Ugandan Charg\u00e9 d\u2019affaires for her part expressed her government\u2019s appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality given to president Museveni during his recent visit to Sudan.<\/p>\n

She also expressed Uganda\u2019s desire to continue contacts with Khartoum and to implement the pledges which were agreed on between the two presidents during the visit.<\/p>\n

Last October, Enough Project released a report saying that the founder and leader of the Lord Resistance Army (LRA) Joseph Kony continues to be based in the Sudan-controlled enclave of Kafia Kingi as of May 2015.<\/p>\n

Sudanese government last September invited the African Union special envoy for LRA issues Jackson Tuwei to visit the country. Officials in Khartoum denied supporting the rebel leader or his presence in Kafia Kingi.<\/p>\n

Khartoum which accused Kampala during the past years of supporting the Sudanese rebels, recently admitted that the latter are no longer in Uganda.<\/p>\n
