{"id":20929,"date":"2015-10-31T08:39:31","date_gmt":"2015-10-31T08:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/uhuru-kenyatta-returns-from-india\/"},"modified":"2015-10-31T08:39:23","modified_gmt":"2015-10-31T08:39:23","slug":"uhuru-kenyatta-returns-from-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/uhuru-kenyatta-returns-from-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Uhuru Kenyatta returns from India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{President Uhuru Kenyatta returned to Kenya on Friday evening after attending a summit in to India.}<\/p>\n<p>The President and his entourage arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly after 10 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>On arrival, President Kenyatta was received by Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe among other government officials.<\/p>\n<p>The summit advocated for a shift in the Indo-Africa trade that will see Kenya and other countries in the continent focus on value addition instead of export of raw materials.<\/p>\n<p>The forum, which brought together more than 40 African heads of state and government is the largest number since its launch in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, President Kenyatta observed that while India was the fifth largest source of Foreign Direct Investment in Africa, there was still vast untapped potential that investors could take advantage of.<\/p>\n<p>President Kenyatta held talks with his host India\u2019s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and addressed the Confederation of Indian Industry in New Delhi.<\/p>\n<p>In his speech, he emphasised the need for the Indian business community to seize the opportunity of the new environment of trade and investment emerging in Kenya.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-8856 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/uhuru-2.jpg\" alt=\"President Uhuru Kenyatta addresses the plenary during the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit 2015\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>DAILY NATION<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{President Uhuru Kenyatta returned to Kenya on Friday evening after attending a summit in to India.} The President and his entourage arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly after 10 p.m. On arrival, President Kenyatta was received by Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe among other government officials.
