{"id":20565,"date":"2015-09-14T03:58:23","date_gmt":"2015-09-14T03:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/un-salutes-rwandan-peacekeepers-in-car\/"},"modified":"2015-09-14T03:56:54","modified_gmt":"2015-09-14T03:56:54","slug":"un-salutes-rwandan-peacekeepers-in-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/un-salutes-rwandan-peacekeepers-in-car\/","title":{"rendered":"UN salutes Rwandan peacekeepers in CAR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Police Advisor at the UN Department of Peacekeeping Missions, Stephen Feller, has commended Rwandan peacekeepers in the Central African Republic (CAR) for their professionalism and commitment in bringing peace and stability to the country.<\/p>\n<p>He delivered the message last Friday during his visit to the Rwanda \u2013 Formed Police Unit (RWA-FPU) base in the capital Bangui, where he was received by the contingent commander, ACP Gilbert R. Gumira.<\/p>\n<p>He was accompanied by the Police Commissioner for MINUSCA Luis Miguel Carrilho.<\/p>\n<p>Briefing the Rwandan police contingent, Feller noted that it was a \u201cbig honour and pleasure to count Rwanda FPU\u201d among the MINUSCA peacekeeping force, which has \u201cpromoted professional conduct and patriotism.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRwanda is a country that brings expertise to the UN missions not only through excellent skills of the police officers, but also the rich human and cultural values Rwandan women and men possess,\u201d Feller said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis peacekeeping task is a challenge and it comes with overcoming obstacles on a daily basis \u2013 and I am grateful that Rwandan FPUs work in partnership with the residents to ensure that their mission areas are secure and at peace at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rwanda was the first country to deploy a contingent of 140 police officers in September last year under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in CAR (MINUSCA).<\/p>\n<p>They have been credited with several initiatives including the introduction of Umuganda (community work) in Bangui, as a homegrown solution to some of the socio-economic challenges the country faces.<\/p>\n<p>The NewTimes<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Police Advisor at the UN Department of Peacekeeping Missions, Stephen Feller, has commended Rwandan peacekeepers in the Central African Republic (CAR) for their professionalism and commitment in bringing peace and stability to the country.
