{"id":20493,"date":"2015-08-24T13:27:23","date_gmt":"2015-08-24T13:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/kagame-meets-au-representative-to-south-sudan\/"},"modified":"2015-08-24T13:27:17","modified_gmt":"2015-08-24T13:27:17","slug":"kagame-meets-au-representative-to-south-sudan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/kagame-meets-au-representative-to-south-sudan\/","title":{"rendered":"Kagame meets AU Representative to South Sudan"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-8392 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/20855126221_c4d4880e6a_z.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>{President Kagame has met with Alpha Oumar Konare, former President of Mali and African Union High Representative to South Sudan.}<\/p>\n<p>The two were expected to discuss the security situation in south Sudan and the entire region.<\/p>\n<p> Rwanda is a member of AU high-level ad hoc committee that was established by the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) at its 47th meeting on 5 December 2014 in order to support the South Sudan mediation of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).<\/p>\n<p>Konar\u00e9 was in June this year appointed by the Commission of the African Union (AU), Dr. NkosazanaDlamini-Zuma, as the AU High Representative to South Sudan.<\/p>\n<p>The AU envoy meets Kagame amidst a failed truce in the mineral-rich S.Sudan, after President Salva Kiir refused to sign a peace deal.<\/p>\n<p>Kagame, who has deployed over 800 Rwandan troops serving under the UN Mission in S. Sudan (UNMISS), might have a say in the state of affairs in S.
