{Uganda\u2019s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni surprised residents of Wakiso District this weekend when he said that he thought the national football team (the Uganda Cranes) was a mere club, reports Daily Monitor.}<\/p>\n
\u201cI did not know that Uganda Cranes was the national team. I thought it was a just a club. They explained to me that other football clubs feed the Uganda Cranes with players and it is the national team,\u201d President Museveni said, sending the crowd into stitches.<\/p>\n
Museveni however said he has a lot of passion for the game, and that he was a footballer during his youth.<\/p>\n
He added his active participation had been hindered by instability in Uganda.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was a sportsman years ago. I used to love to play football, but since 1966 I have been concentrating on war. I have now started going back to sports because of the (prevailing) peace,\u201d the Ugandan President said.<\/p>\n
Museveni made the remarks after he commissioned Family Health Care, a private hospital in Wakiso District.<\/p>\n
Museveni contributed Sh80 million toward construction of a surgical facility at the hospital.<\/p>\n
