This approach is particularly useful for assignments that require both photographs and moving images, including corporate communications and event coverage.

Eric Kabera, founder and president of Kwetu Film Institute, also took part in the masterclass. With about three decades in the industry, Kabera is a pioneer of modern Rwandan filmmaking and a mentor to many filmmakers who have entered the profession.

Alongside his filmmaking career, Kabera has helped create opportunities for others to learn and develop their craft. Through the Rwanda Cinema Centre and Kwetu Film Institute, he has contributed to training and supporting a generation of Rwandan filmmakers.

His film credits include “100 Days”, “Keepers of Memory” and “Africa United”. He also founded the Rwanda Film Festival, known as Hillywood, which helped bring films to communities and connect local filmmakers with international cinema.

Kwetu Film Institute provides education and training in film, television and other forms of screen production. The masterclass brought this educational work together with practical instruction on technology used in photography and filmmaking.

Sony is a Japanese multinational founded in 1946, with businesses spanning technology and entertainment. Its activities include electronics, music, film and gaming.

The company’s imaging equipment includes Alpha cameras for photography and video, as well as Cinema Line systems designed for filmmaking. The Kigali masterclass focused on applying knowledge of Sony camera systems to the practical demands of producing content for clients.

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images
