{"id":2000125514,"date":"2026-09-09T11:19:51","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T09:19:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/?p=2000125514"},"modified":"2026-09-09T11:20:04","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T09:20:04","slug":"handball-rwanda-reach-u-20-africa-championship-quarter-finals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/handball-rwanda-reach-u-20-africa-championship-quarter-finals\/","title":{"rendered":"Handball: Rwanda reach U-20 Africa Championship quarter-finals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The victory at Salle Polyvalente in Abidjan secured Rwanda\u2019s place in the knockout stage after they finished second in Group A with four points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda entered the match needing a win after losing 36-20 to Guinea in their opening game before bouncing back with a 30-25 victory over hosts C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coach Hafedh Zouabi\u2019s side dominated Zimbabwe from the outset, taking an 18-5 lead into half-time before completing a 32-16 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guinea topped Group A with six points after beating C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire 32-14 in the other group match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda will face Angola in the quarter-finals on Wednesday, September 9, with the match scheduled for 2 p.m. Kigali time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It will be Rwanda\u2019s third appearance at the Africa U-20 Handball Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda first competed in the tournament in 2022 when they hosted the championship in Kigali and finished eighth. They returned in 2024, finishing sixth in the edition held in Tunisia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex
