{"id":2000114207,"date":"2026-06-02T11:58:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T09:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/?p=2000114207"},"modified":"2026-06-02T11:59:42","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T09:59:42","slug":"active-grenade-found-after-deadly-wwii-bomb-blast-in-eastern-indonesia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/active-grenade-found-after-deadly-wwii-bomb-blast-in-eastern-indonesia\/","title":{"rendered":"Active grenade found after deadly WWII bomb blast in eastern Indonesia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Biak Numfor Police Chief Ari Trestiawan said the grenade was found at the blast site and safely detonated by a bomb disposal unit at around 6:00 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents have been warned to stay away from the area until it is declared free of explosive materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police have not yet begun a formal crime scene investigation pending the completion of site sterilization efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The explosion occurred at a fishery complex in Biak Kota district on Sunday afternoon, killing five people, including two children.
