{The Zambia government has allegedly stopped paying rent for the country’s former First Lady, Dr Christine Kaseba-Sata, leading to her eviction, privately-owned daily, The Post, reported Wednesday.}<\/p>\n
Dr Kaseba-Sata is the widow of former President Michael Sata.<\/p>\n
President Sata died in a London hospital last October.<\/p>\n
This is not the first time that a Zambian government was being caught up in a scenario of possible neglect of a former first lady.<\/p>\n
The late Levy Mwanawasa’s widow, Maureen, also complained openly of the treatment she got from the husband’s former ruling party, the Movement for Multiparty Democracy, over financial support.<\/p>\n
Official comment<\/p>\n
“The government has stopped paying rentals for Michael Sata’s family, leading to the eviction of former First Lady Dr Christine Kaseba from 8 Reedbuck Lodge where she had been residing since leaving State House,” The Post reported.<\/p>\n
“Dr Kaseba has since moved to her mother’s house in Libala, which is located behind Break Point Night Club.”<\/p>\n
Libala is a lower tier residential area located a few kilometres from the Lusaka city centre.<\/p>\n
The paper quoted unnamed senior government officials as confirming the development.<\/p>\n
There was no official comment from government on the matter, although it was raised in parliament Tuesday.<\/p>\n
