{The extradition proceedings against Jamil Mukulu, the leader of the Allied Democratic Front (ADF) arrested in Tanzania last month will continue on Tuesday with him presenting a defence against the request for his banishment to Uganda.Mukulu is wanted on charges of treason, aggravated murder and terrorism among others. } <\/p>\n
The other four men are wanted for aggravated murder and treason.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile Ugandan security agencies have commenced extradition trials for five men arrested with Mukulu.<\/p>\n
The men, whose names are now public, were arrested for allegedly offering protection to the fugitive leader.<\/p>\n
They include Ahmed Matovu alias Mohammed Matovu, Abdallah Mutuka, Muwanga Bashir and Abdu Rashid Kalange.<\/p>\n
The four are still in detention in Tanzanian police cells.<\/p>\n
An affidavit submitted to the Tanzanian court states that Matovu, who was first arrested in Kampala in 2012, jumped bail at Buganda road court before fleeing the country.<\/p>\n
The affidavit also shows that Matovu traveled into Kenya under the alias Sebadduka Muhammed and later crossed into Tanzania where he linked up with Mukulu.<\/p>\n
Abdallah Mutuka, the other detainee is wanted in connection with escaping police custody in Busia.<\/p>\n
Uganda Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga confirmed the development saying that Ugandan authorities had instituted extradition proceedings against the four men and had fixed Friday as the day for the hearing.
