This was seen on Thursday during the delivery of equipments donated by the University\u2019s officials who told the community that they will continue to support them as far as the wellbeing of Genocide survivors is concerned.}<\/p>\n<p>Initiatives which aimed at improving the Genocide survivors\u2019 living conditions are fruit of advocacy programs launched by the organization &#8220;Peace and Hope&#8221; that brings together children who were playing parental role after their parents were killed during the Genocide against the Tutsi.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-8037 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/5-30.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>UNLAK staff donated sewing machines and bicycles to Peace and Hope which plays a watch dog and advocacy role for people living in that village and soon the donated equipments will start contributing to the socio economic wellbeing of the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to IGIHE, UNLAK Rector Dr Jean Ngamije said \u201cToday, we are here to teach them how to be independent in various daily activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-8041 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/9-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p> Apart from the donated equipments, UNILAK has also agreed to support the nursery school owned by Peace and Hope in this village and pay teachers for seven months.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Ngamije said this is a part of various activities destined to support Genocide survivors.<\/p>\n<p>He pledges more machines as the number of beneficiaries will be increasing adding that UNILAK will also assist them in their respective association.<\/p>\n<p>Albert Musabyimana, a Genocide survivor and the founder of Peace and Hope Organization said that in order to help the community; through this organization they are currently putting special focus in vocational training initiatives to allow more youth have access to education as a way to bring them to the stage of more advanced life than sitting idle.<\/p>\n<p>Musabyimana added that \u201cWe have seen that our youth need to be active and we decided to teach them how to fish instead of giving them fishes.
