Poland’s Chief of Defence made the recognition last week during a meeting with Gen Patrick Nyamvumba in the sidelines of the Chief of Defence Staff’s Conference in New York. Poland wants to tap into Rwanda’s experience.<\/p>\n

Last Week 100 Member States gathered in New York to participate in Defence Chiefs Meeting to strengthen UN peacekeeping.<\/p>\n

During the conference, the UN Secretary-General requests \u2018Unity and Backing\u2019 for UN Peacekeepers.<\/p>\n

Secretary General Ban Kimoon noted that \u201cPeacekeepers deploy on the frontlines of human misery \u2014 in some of the most dangerous places on earth. The threats are growing. Before 2000, there were only four times when more than 100 peacekeepers lost their lives in a single year. Since then, we have suffered that tragic toll 10 times, consecutively 10 times. It\u2019s very sad and tragic that we are losing so many colleagues in the mission to keep peace and security for the peoples [of the world].\u201d <\/p>\n

Rwanda was represented by its Defense Chief Gen. Patrick Nyamvumba. Rwanda is the sixth largest troops contributor to UN Peacekeeping missions around the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
