{On 9th March 2015 the Minister of Local Government, Hon. Francis Kaboneka met DASSO Coordinators in Kigali to assess the evolution of their mission after six months of the deployment to support local entities in ensuring security.}<\/p>\n
The meeting brought together the Ministry of Local Government, Rwanda National Police and DASSO Coordinators with two deputy coordinators from all 30 districts under the purpose of evaluating the current result of DASSO mission execution, security situation in communities and remaining challenges to this new organ that came into operation last year.<\/p>\n
DASSO Coordinators were deployed in August 2014 after completing 3 month training. Mugabo Sindayigaya Eduard, DASSO Coordinator in Nyarugenge District said the security situation in community has improved since their deployment.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cAfter we were deployed to operate in community, the security has been effectively sustained and positively improved through our collaboration with other security concerned institutions such as National Police. Our support in introducing a professional night watchers in communities has also resulted an effective impact.\u201d<\/p>\n
Minister Kaboneka said the meeting was the opportunity to evaluate 6 months\u2019 experience of DASSO within the operation and discuss the challenges. Minister appreciated what they have done so far but also appealed to them to maximize their integrity which will enable them to fight and prevent crimes.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cRwandan values especially integrity are pillars to application of your mission. Whatever you do, you have to maximize your integrity which will facilitate and enable you to curb crimes such as conflicts, corruption, injustice and drug abuse among others in your communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cPreserve the public interest for the first priority. We\u2019re going to deal with the remaining problems you still have in order to felicitate you perfectly accomplish your duty. We\u2019re ready and committed to support you.\u201d Minister Kaboneka stressed.<\/p>\n
Minister Kaboneka finally requested DASSO officers to be brave so to make sure the security of the people is completely maintained.<\/p>\n
The newly created District Administration Security Support Organ, \u201cDASSO\u201d, was established by a law determining the mission to assist local governments in enforcing decisions pertaining to security issues and support communities in preventing crimes.
