{The U.S. special envoy to Africa’s Great Lakes region Russ Feingold has said his country was “somewhat disappointed” that strikes against the FDLR have still not begun.}<\/p>\n
Speaking at a news conference in the capital Kinshasa, Feingold reiterated the United States’ Support to fight against FDLR.<\/p>\n
The Congolese military promised to push the FDLR out of the eastern part of the country after the rebel group failed to meet a deadline to disarm last month.<\/p>\n
However, a dispute over the inclusion of Congolese forces, with allegedly shady human right records, in the military operation against the FDLR has kept the DRC forces from launching a coordinated offensive against the rebels.<\/p>\n
The UN reportedly objects to the inclusion of the Congolese soldiers.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile Russ Feingold said the U.S. supports operations against the rebel group formally announced by the Congolese army nearly two weeks ago.<\/p>\n
Feingold said he was confident a solution would be found.<\/p>\n
