{Local businessman Assinapol Rwigara died in an accident in Kagugu Cell, Kinyinya Sector, Gasabo on Wednesday night.}<\/p>\n
Rwigara, who was driving a Mercedes Benz sedan, registration number RAC 391E, rammed into a Mercedes Benz truck, registration number RAC 806B.<\/p>\n
Police last evening said the driver who had ran away after the accident, turned himself in at Gasabo District headquarters, in Kacyiru.<\/p>\n
However, Police spokesperson Celestin Twahirwa, said they could not release the driver\u2019s identity \u201cfor safety reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n
Traffic and Road Safety Department Spokesperson CIP Emmanuel Kabanda, said the businessman, who owned a tobacco manufacturing firm, died on the spot.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe accident happened on the road from K-Club toward Utexirwa. The truck was coming from the K-Club direction while the deceased was driving from Utexirwa toward K-Club,\u201d Kabanda narrated.<\/p>\n
Eyewitnesses called the police after the accident but the truck driver had fled the scene by the time police arrived.<\/p>\n
Rwigara, who owned, Premier Tobacco Company, was the first Rwandan to deal in tobacco business on a large scale. He was also into real estate business. He is survived by a wife and children.<\/p>\n
