{Police at Rusizi border post, on Tuesday, impounded a Range Rover Sport V8, said to have been stolen from the United Kingdom.}<\/p>\n

The luxurious car was intercepted through Interpol cooperation, as it made its way to DR Congo from Burundi, according to Spt. Emmanuel Hitayezu, Police spokesperson for the Western Province.<\/p>\n

“The car was intercepted when the person who had bought it was clearing it to enter DR Congo.<\/p>\n

Rwanda clearing system recorded a “Red alert\/wanted alert” on the car after realising that it was on INTERPOL’s list of missing vehicles,” Hitayezu said, in an interview, yesterday<\/p>\n

He said the car, registered under Congolese number plate 068-10 AB22, was found with a male Congolese national.<\/p>\n

The arrested buyer later told police that he had bought it from three Burundian nationals-who were also arrested from Ruhwa Border Post as they made their way back to Burundi.<\/p>\n

The three Burundians are now under the custody of the Rwandan police at Kamembe police station, according to Hitayezu.<\/p>\n

“Names of suspects and more details will be disclosed as investigations advance,” Hitayezu said.<\/p>\n

It is understood that the three Burundian nationals had sold the car at a black market price of $35, 000 with a down payment made of $25,000.<\/p>\n

The remaining installment of $10, 000 was to be cleared at a later stage, Hitayezu said.<\/p>\n

The Range Rover Sport V8 is estimated to cost between $65,000 and $90,000, according to internet sources.<\/p>\n
