Gen. James Kabarebe on Friday urged youth leaders of the Western Province to use the strong institutions available and uphold the values that led to Liberation of Rwanda for national development and nation building which is an \u201cendless phase\u201d.}<\/p>\n<p>He was addressing 1168 Youth leaders from seven districts of the Western Province who concluded a civic education (Itorero Inkomezamihigo III) on 23 January 2015 in Rubavu District.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Youth and ICT (MYICT) in partnership with National Itorero Commission and Districts of Western Province organized a 6 days Itorero for Inkomezamihigo Phase, 1,000 youth leaders from sector and cell level under the theme \u201cTwahisemo Kuba Umusingi w\u2019Iterambere\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Kabarebe told them to use the values of the liberation struggle of Rwanda: vision, patriotism, resilience, determination, patience, use of minimum resources to achieve more, discipline and self-decision making among others. \u201cThese values should guide you in the continued liberation of Rwanda\u201d, he emphasized. He told the youth that the foundation of the country\u2019s sustainable development had been laid by visionary leaders.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister stated that Rwanda was now secure and ready to do whatever it could to develop its citizens. He explained that Rwanda was enjoying peace and security which is the strongest pillar for sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the National Itorero Commission (NIC), Mr Boniface Rucagu urged the Youth to uphold Rwandan values and protect Rwanda\u2019s achievements. He thanked all stakeholders who contributed to the success conduct of Itorero Inkomezamihigo III that started on 17 January 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Itorero aims to strengthen the strategic planning, performance management, leadership skills, and volunteerism among youth leaders in order to effectively serve their peers and the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Gen. Kabarebe said that patriotism, visionary leadership, ideological clarity, discipline, resilience, courage, consistency, economy of effort and innovation among others are key values that helped the Rwanda Patriotic Army to succeed during the liberation struggle. He urged young people to uphold those values as they are still valid to lead the country to development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe current struggle for Rwandans is about poverty eradication, fight against corruption and promoting good health of our citizens. This should be your role as leaders\u201d Gen Kabarebe told 1000 youth at the official closing of itorero in Rubavu.<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of the trainees, Norbert Shyerezo pledged to execute what was agreed on in the contracts. He stressed that the performance contracts of the trained youth leaders are aligned with national pillars of economy, social and good governance.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Niyibizi from Karongi District said \u201cItorero improved our talents and encouraged us to make our contribution to the development of our country\u201d.
