{The Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana has challenged the Rwandan youth to rise up and drive the campaign against crimes and play a central role in crime prevention. } <\/p>\n
The IGP made the call on December 14 while receiving 32 members of Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Crime Prevention Organization (RYVCPO) at the Rwanda National Police headquarters in Kacyiru. <\/p>\n
The youth, who represented their colleagues at the provincial and district level had paid a courtesy call to RNP to review and discuss the organization\u2019s activities get more understanding in their crime prevention awareness campaign. <\/p>\n
Currently the organization has over 7,000 members nationalwide. <\/p>\n
IGP Gasana appealed to the youth to always strive to mobilize their peers from different parts of the country to become part of crime prevention initiatives. <\/p>\n
They were also briefed on the main crimes committed in the country including assault, drugs abuse, battery and child defilement which are largely attributed
\nto ignorance especially of parents. <\/p>\n
Jean Bosco Mutangana, the President of RYVCPO, described the meeting as “great opportune to discuss about their activities, challenges and as a result draw new strategies to further prevent crimes.” <\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been a big opportunity for us, coming here and getting advice from the IGP and other officers; we feel honored and encouraged,\u201d Mutangana said . <\/p>\n
The second batch of 300 members of the youth organisation is scheduled to a 10-day workshop on crime prevention effective December 21 at the National Police College in Musanze district. <\/p>\n
