Former President Tabar\u00e9 V\u00e1zquez easily won Uruguay\u2019s presidential election on Sunday, putting the country on course to continue many of the progressive policies pushed by departing President Jos\u00e9 \u201cPepe\u201d Mujica.<\/p>\n
With most of the ballots counted, Mr. V\u00e1zquez, a 74-year-old oncologist, had won about 53% of the vote, compared with around 41% for conservative National Party candidate Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou, according to official statement <\/p>\n
