{A crocodile killed and ate a pregnant woman on the shores of a lake in north-eastern Uganda, a senior wildlife official said Thursday, making her the 30th victim of such reptile attacks in the east African nation this year.}<\/p>\n
Twenty-five-year-old Dementilia Nabwire, who was two months pregnant, was collecting firewood on the shores of Lake Kyoga with several other women on Wednesday, when a crocodile jumped out of the water and pulled her into the lake.<\/p>\n
Crocodile attacks on humans are on the increase because fish stocks in lakes have been decreasing, Uganda Wildlife Authority official Peter Ogwang told dpa.<\/p>\n
“The woman, we have learnt, was killed by the crocodile. These animals are lacking to eat and are attacking people,” said Ogwang.<\/p>\n
