The authorities in Burkina Faso have appointed an army officer, Lt Col Isaac Zida, as transitional prime minister.<\/p>\n
It comes a day after the former foreign minister, Michel Kafando, was sworn in as interim president.<\/p>\n
The appointments follow the signing of a charter on Sunday mapping out a year-long transition to elections.<\/p>\n
Army officers led by Col Zida took power after then President Blaise Compaore was forced to resign on 31 October during mass protests.<\/p>\n
